INGA LIUKAITYTĖ
PROJECTS
Inga has a varied repertoire of music from Bach and Scarlatti to Chopin and Liszt to 20th and 21st century music. Most of her recitals include composers from her home country, Lithuania. Inga has a particular interest in Olivier Messiaen, with the goal to perform all twenty Regards in a concert one day.
Inga enjoys collaborating with other musicians and has performed with singers and instrumentalists. Her chamber repertoire includes Messiaen's Quatuor pour la fin du temps, Rachmaninov Cello Sonata, and Bartok's Contrasts, which she performed at the Barbican Hall, among other major works, as well as lesser-known contemporary pieces.

Angelų muzika / Music of Angels
With its inception in 2022, this project was influenced by the tragic events in Ukraine, as well as personal struggles. It is an attempt to find light and meaning in the world that has descended into chaos.
The project, which premiered in Kaunas, Lithuania, features music with a spiritual dimension, such as Beethoven's late Sonata op. 110, Bach-Busoni Chaconne, and music by Messiaen and Lithuanian composers. It deals with the themes of grief and sorrow, as well as light and hope.
To introduce the pieces to the audience in a meaningful and symbolic way, six poems were born. Every poem symbolizes a different angel - Angels of Joy, Struggle, Sorrow, Peace, Grief, and Hope. Speaking in the first person narrative, the Angels help strengthen the emotional charge of each piece and provide a glimpse into Inga's personal artistic vision.
The final piece, Carl Vine's Threnody, and its accompanying poem, Angel of Hope, bring the recital to a close with a prayer for the victims of war.

Skausmo (netekties) angelas
man skauda už tave
man gaila gyvenimo
nenugyvento
tavo ašaros mano akyse
mano krūtinėje
tavo jausmai gilesni už meilę
tavo skausmas mano lūpomis šaukia
man baisu dėl tavęs
dėl tamsos tavo širdy
meldžiu kad suprastum
amžinybėj nėra mirties
iš tavo ilgesio
paklosiu pamatus
skliautais parėmęs
nulipdysiu amžinybės sienas
įdėsiu langus iš vitražo
papuošiu vasaros gėlėm
kol tu gedėsi
aš statysiu katedrą
vilties tvirtovę
kur nėra baimės
kad tu prieitum
ir išgirstum didingai skambančius varpus
ir per spalvoto stiklo langus
išvystum šviesą

MUSIC IN TIMES OF TURMOIL
This recital combines solo piano music with storytelling to explore the difficult history of Lithuania, including its occupation by the Soviets and the struggle for independence.
A country of only 2.7 million people, Lithuania suffered centuries of oppression by the Russian Empire and Soviet Union. Its nation and language have miraculously survived wars, occupations, and exiles. Lithuania's story is one of defiance,
In this recital, Inga performs pieces by Lithuanian and other composers to tell the life-affirming story of her home country. From historical background of the pieces to personal anecdotes passed down by her parents and grandparents, she uses music and spoken word to give a fascinating account of Lithuania's complex history.
